'ASSOCIATION BETWEEN HAND GRIP STRENGTH AND HAND INDEX IN HEALTHY INDUSTRIAL DESK WORKERS

Abstract
ABSTRACT: In Industry workers perform repetitive activities may lead to cumulative traumatic disorder due to dimensional incompatibility and improper usage of tools. Hand anthropometry is useful for to design the equipment and machines for better efficiency. Thus aim of this is to know association of Handgrip strength and Hand Index in Industrial Desk Workers. Methodology - It was an observational study with 4 months duration. A total of 20 Industrial Desk workers were recruited with a purposive sampling method. The basic data including Hand dominance and Years of experiences were recorded. The outcome measure was the assessment of Handgrip strength using the Hand dynamometer and vernier calliper for the assessment of Hand Index. Result There is partial positive co-relation is found between Handgrip strength and Hand Index in both sides. [r value -0.1452]. The mean value of right hand grip strength was higher as compared to left hand grip strength in Industrial workers. The difference is not stastically significant. [P value is 0.4410]. Conclusion - In this study it is found that there is partial positive co-relation is found between Handgrip strength and Hand Index on both sides. There is no significant difference is found in Handgrip strength of both sides. They perform various tasks repetitively and widely by Both Hands. Thus there is no significant difference is found.
